First Hill in Seattle rose to prominence in the late 1800s as a retreat for the wealthy. It is now home to two private high schools, three major healthcare facilities, and the site of the former King County Courthouse. Our design is a response to the mixture of materials, colors, and proportions endemic to the city hillside.

With its splayed surfaces, the building’s character presents differently from each vantage point, allowing for varied responses to its context. Cielo is a 427,000-SF, 32-story, 335-unit high-rise apartment building, with a 5,000-SF plaza, located in Downtown Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood—an area of the Financial District that overlooks the Retail Core and is within walking distance to Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market and Waterfront Park.
