Jenn Shafer Joins 91ÌÆ²®»¢ as Chief Legal Officer

(Overland Park, Kan., July 7, 2025) – The global integrated design firm 91ÌÆ²®»¢ has appointed Jenn Shafer as its chief legal officer. With a distinguished record as a legal advisor and business partner in the design and construction industry, Shafer adds specialized legal expertise and strategic leadership to 91ÌÆ²®»¢â€™s executive leadership team. She will report to CEO Steve McKay, AIA, RIBA, and work from the firm’s Kansas City office.

Leveraging over 20 years of experience, Shafer will lead all aspects of the firm’s legal and insurance operations. She will collaborate with 91ÌÆ²®»¢ executive, sector, and region leaders around the globe to develop strategies to manage risk in a way that maximizes project outcomes and advances strategic objectives for the firms’ employee owners.

Prior to joining 91ÌÆ²®»¢, Shafer was at Black & Veatch for more than a decade, most recently as vice president and lead counsel for dispute resolution and its global insurance program.

Shafer holds bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Kansas State University and received her juris doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. She is a member of the Kansas and Missouri bars, as well as the American Bar Association and its Forum on Construction Law.
